The Biggest Dog in the World – Giant George
Giant George is a blue Great Dane, a breed of dog that is known for its height. Of all the Great Danes living today, George, owned by David Nasser, is the biggest dog in the world. This dog weighs around 110 kgs and is 110 cms tall. George was born on the 17th of November, 2005, and was adopted by David when he was 7 weeks old. He was announced as the biggest dog in 2010 when he appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show. George currently lives in Tucson with David Nasser’s family.
George is a wonderful pet because of his less aggressive nature and friendly attachment to humans. David says that George is very calm and likes to play a lot. When George was a small puppy, he liked to play tug of war and games of fetch. George needs a queen size bed to sleep and he likes to eat dog food, eggs, meat and yogurt. George likes to roam around with his family and to visit the golf course. They like to play with him in their own neighbourhood. Although George is a gentle giant, sometimes his bark scares strangers.
David said that they were unaware that adopting a Great Dane puppy would result in a celebrity. The nomination of George for Guinness records was a conflict due to many erroneous reports. At last the council decided to send one of the judges to David’s house to verify the actual measurement. He found that George is three quarters of an inch bigger than the previous record. The results were officially announced by The Oprah Winfrey Show in February of 2010. This was a memorable moment for David. He said that it is very proud to have the Guinness record holder as their family member.
