Pond Filled With Interactive Fish Changes When You Walk Through It
Get bored easily while wading in those dull 20th-century ponds? Thankfully that’s about to change with this interactive installation by teamLab who created a digitally enhanced Koi pond which changes reacts and changes upon your touch.
Visitor’s of this installation in Tokyo get to walk through this pond filled with digital Koi fish who turn into flowers upon touch: “The movement of the koi is influenced by the presence of people in the water and also other koi,” explain the artists. “When the fish collide with people they turn into flowers and scatter. The trajectory of the koi is determined by the presence of people and these trajectories trace lines on the surface of the water.”
Those interactions also trigger unique patterns, that can not be replicated afterwards: “The work is rendered in real time by a computer program. It is neither a prerecorded animation nor on loop. The interaction between the viewer and the installation causes a continuous change in the artwork. Previous visual states can never be replicated, and will never reoccur.”
