Minimalist Temporary Tattoos Made for the “Responsibly Rebellious”
Ashley Arnett describes her online shop SmashTat as “temporary tattoos for the responsibly rebellious.” Stocking contemporary designs, her non-permanent body art offers a fantastic way to sport an image that’s both trendy and modern without the lifelong commitment. It also gives you the opportunity to “try before you buy”—to live with a tattoo for a few days before getting something similar inked forever. If you’ve ever wondered how you’ll look with minimalist mountains or the word “brave” across your wrist, now’s your chance to find out.
The idea for SmashTat came to Arnett in 2012. “I’ve always been fascinated with tattoos and my Pinterest board at the time was swimming with designs I loved but would never get permanently,” she admits, learning a valuable lesson from her first tattoo—itself the result of a spontaneous decision in Vegas. “I look back on that experience as an awesome memory,” she said, “but [I] do wish I could have put more thought into it.”
Each SmashTat tattoo lasts between two and five days, and their various imagery—including nature, scripted text, and geometric patterns—will speak to whatever mood or aesthetic you may desire. SmashTat is currently available on Etsy.
