17 Extreme Scarification Tattoos

Posted on Art 123

Today most people have tattoos and piercings. Tattooing is more popular today than ever before, and to have one is a form of personal expression. Some are feminine in nature, some masculine, and some a bit morbid. But you have never seen anything quite as morbid as you are about to lay eyes on. Below are seventeen tattoos which have steered their way around the traditional ink method and have used scarification to get the job done. Prepare to be blown away by…

1. Butterfly

1. Butterfly

This ‘tattoo’ may have a very attractive green hue, but the scarring that forms the actual outline must have been intensely painful. With that being said, it is one of the more attractive on our list, but could have been much simpler to carry out, I’m sure.

2. I Love My Dog

2. I Love My Dog

Yep, we all love our pets, but a tattoo of the dog wasn’t good enough for this owner. After all, who wants their best friend to fade over time? We can safely say this dog left its mark.

3. What?

3. What

Now this oriental-based image may be beautiful in and of itself, but the one wearing it must have been nothing short of serious when they got the job done. Ouch!

4. Heart

4. Heart

And we don’t mean the kind you send for a Valentine. This is an actual heart scarred into the chest of the wearer. Surely they had a very personal reason for taking things this far.

5. Vee’s the Word

5. Vee’s the Word

A double ‘v’? Maybe a double chevron? Perhaps a superhero logo? No matter what the case, this scar tattoo is right on their forehead. You know what they say about first impressions, right?

6. Hello, Kitty!

6. Hello, Kitty

And considering the fact that it’s scarred, the owner will not be saying goodbye to kitty too soon.

7. Symbols

7. Symbols

We are not too sure what the symbols on the back of this persons forearm really mean, but whatever they are, they are there for life!

8. Stars Galore

8. Stars Galore

So, the left leg of this enthusiast is covered from ankle to thigh with stars of varying sizes. While it is very creative, and we may have seen similar tattoos done in the traditional manner, it would take a lot of fade cream to get this one to go away if they ever changed their mind!

9. Tree on my Chest

9. Tree on my Chest

Tree of woe, or tree of WOW? This creative piece may have taken only a little while to complete, but we are pretty sure that pain-wise it took the cake. At least it doesn’t look to bad, huh?

10. Pink Flower

10. Pink Flower

While the scars left from this tattoo job are very, very pronounced, they also left a very attractive color from the wound itself. This is a favorite of many; it is not only unique, it is quite beautiful.

11. Math, or Just a Bit of Geometry?

11. Math, or Just a Bit of Geometry

Can’t really tell with this one. We have a plus symbol, a couple of circles, some lines, and a couple of ovals. We may not get it, but I’m pretty sure it means something to the owner.

12. Anchors Aweigh!

12. Anchors Aweigh

Both of the upper thighs of this individual are pretty much covered with some deeply scarred anchor tattoos, and boy, do they ever look painful! Hopefully this is really what they wanted, because they are not going anywhere soon.

13. A Murderous Little Cutie

13. A Murderous Little Cutie

Okay, so she looks a bit like a bare breasted Betty Boop in curlers, but the fact that she has a hatchet and a steak in her hand (if it IS a steak) seems just a tad bit disturbing.

14. We Love Pachyderms

14. We Love Pachyderms

This elephant tattoo does the trick when it comes to conveying the wearer’s feelings about these beautiful animals, but they didn’t have to put themselves through so much to get it…or maybe they really are that dedicated.

15. Bamboo-zled

15. Bamboo-zled

This woman’s back features some very artistic bamboo, and even shows the beginning of the process, as well as the end result. Not bad, not bad.

16. Kitty Cat Christopher

16. Kitty Cat Christopher

The cat outline is very good, and the name ‘Christopher’ was done well too. We can only hope that if it is a boyfriend’s name they don’t break up any time soon.

17. Flower Chested

17. Flower Chested

Matching blooms, one on each side of their chest, look good enough, but I just wouldn’t expect this type of scarification tattoo on a man, but maybe it is a woman. Who knows?
