Mushrooms are fungus, and while we eat them, and even actively hunt for specific types as a delicacy, most of us rarely pay attention to the fact that some of them are quite beautiful. Here are some of the most amazing mushrooms found on planet Earth. Check these out.
1. Rhodotus Palmatus
This inedible mushroom is a beautiful peach color and resembles coral in structure. It is often referred to as the ‘Wrinkled Peach’.
2. Panellus Stipticus
Also called the ‘Bitter Oyster’, this mushroom variety tastes a lot like acid and is not an edible variety.
3. Hydnellum Peckii
Known as ‘Bleeding Tooth Fungus’, one look at this one explains that moniker. It can be eaten, but the ‘blood’ has no detectable flavor.
4. Tremella Mesenterica
Often called the ‘Golden Jelly Fungus’, this variety is edible but has no taste to speak of. It is recommended that you add seasoning if you want to enjoy it.
5. Asero Rubra
Because it resembles the flower, this mushroom is more commonly called the Anemone Stinkhorn.
6. Amenita Caesarea
This edible fungi was much loved by the Roman’s, and they often called it Caesar’s Mushroom. It is said to have magnificent flavor.
7. Phallus Indusiatus
Also known as the ‘Veiled Lady Mushroom’ because it features a long, lacy veil, this variety somewhat resembles the Morel mushrooms which are avidly hunted in central US during the spring months.

Called the Amethyst Deceiver, this variety discolors as it ages (deep purple), making it virtually unidentifiable.

These ‘Red Mushrooms’ look just like they came out of a cartoon or a fairly land. Don’t eat them, though. They are very poisonous.

It resembles a human brain very closely, hence the name ‘Brain Mushroom’. These can be eaten if thoroughly cooked, but if eaten raw they are famous for killing people off.

‘The Devil’s Cigar’ looks just like a black cigar before bursting apart and turning into what looks like a flower.
15. Mutinus Caninus
Otherwise known as the ‘Dog Stinkhorn’, this fungi can be eaten when it is a baby, but as an adult mushroom it is inedible.
16. Trametes Versicolor
Looking a lot like the tail feathers of a Tom Turkey, this mushroom variety is often called the Turkey Tail. It is a fungus which can be found all over the planet.
