1. Onya-Birri the Koala

The only albino koala in captivity can be found in the San Diego Zoo. Native to Australia, this cute little guy is aptly named Onya-Birri, meaning “ghost boy” in the aboriginal language of this country.

2. Piebald Ball Python

The Piebald Ball Python, is unique in that it is only partially albino. The amount of white in this particular breed of snake ranges – covering anywhere from 60 to 90% of its body surface.

3. White Hedgehog

Tokiko Kojima of Japan adopted this sweet little albino hedgehog, and it immediately became an internet sensation. In captivity, this pet has abandoned its hibernation patterns, remaining wakeful year-round to enjoy a continuous food supply.

The Powelliphanta, or giant snail, is native to New Zealand. The photo of this rare albino example was snapped in 2011, when it was estimated to be 10 years old.

Calling Marineland in Antibes, France home, Alba the albino Loggerhead Turtle is one of less than a dozen of her kind in captivity.

Before his death in 2003, Snowflake reached superstar status as the only known albino gorilla in the world. Discovered in the 1960’s in Equatorial Guinea, he was raised by humans and lived out his life in the Barcelona Zoo.

An albino zebra is known alternatively as a golden zebra or a Zorse. The inability to produce the pigments which characterize other members of the species effects the black stripes of the zebra – rendering them a beautiful golden color.

One of only two known albino Black Vultures, Oxy calls St. Louis, Missouri his home. He happily resides at the World Bird Sanctuary here.

A beautiful pink color, this albino Bottlenose Dolphin was spotted in Lake Calcasieu. The small calf was captured swimming in the inland Louisiana lake, alongside its mother.
